How to Clean a Jacuzzi/jet Tub

Any ideas how to properly clean the inner-workings of a jacuzzi/jet tub? (i'm referring to my bathroom tub.) I see all the gross gunk that builds up in and around the mouths of the jets, and I'm got to think it's just as bad in the pipes where all the water runs through.
I tried filling the tub halfway with scalding hot water and running the jets using dishwasher detergent, but it didn't affect the visible gunk at all so I'm sure it did nothing inside the pipes. Any other ideas?

Ditto the bleach.
I also use vinegar sometimes. I will run the bath full with hot water and add the entire large jug of vinegar and let it run for a while.
Good luck. I always wonder about this, too! Totally ruins my relaxing hot bath when I see a little gunky!!

I use super hot water and clorox.
After it runs a while, I drain, will fill back with only water and run water through it.
I have used the dishwashing detergent but couldn't tell a big difference. I know some people hate clorox but it kills germs and I love it.
I do not use my tub or jets very often.

Please, please, hesitate before you do anything. Use your manufacturer's instructions and if you do not have them, Google the company. Don't mix chemicals. Use lots of ventilation. We had a tragic accident in our area and this is the best advice I can give you. All my best.

Vinegar. It will clean out all the deposits.

WhirlOut. You can get it at Lowe's or Home Depot.
But I do agree with hot water and bleach. But WhirlOut may be a bit less harsh.

Someone once told me a bottle cleaner will work. I used it on my tub and it certainly did. It gets in the jets

Your owners manual should have cleaning instructions. If you do not have it anymore, look on line for you make and model. Most have online instruction now.

I agree with first making sure you read your manual for your jet tub. Most will recommend the use of an actual hot-tub cleaning product you can purchase at most pool stores. Also, even if not using your jets, the water and skin/soap/whatever else debris WILL get into the piping, even without using your jets, so make sure you clean it regularly if you use the tub regularly!
